Hammer's Pro Portfolio

My Background

I was born and raised in a small harbor town on the shore of Lake Ontario: Oswego NY. My family’s business was real estate development and rental properties. I worked with my father as a boy, learning skills like painting, landscaping, electrical, and plumbing.

I began training in Okinawan Karate at 13 with Richard Burger at Burger’s Karate, where I became a successful student. By the age of 18 I was a black belt running classes and teaching young students. I stayed with the school until I was 27, when I moved to Florida. I continue to train on my own.

At 23, I was hired by Cayuga Community College to teach a semester of Karate. I was hired four days before classes started, and developed a curriculum from scratch. I taught the class as a professional, giving assignments, grading papers, and reporting to the administration.

I now live in beautiful New Smyrna Beach, where I teach freshman comp for Daytona State while building my real estate business.

I am a member of the Daytona and Deland Young Professional Group, which helps young professionals network and participate in the community. For example, in 2011, we volunteered to help out the Keep Deland Beautiful clean-up day.

My goal is to become a successful teacher who has a positive influence on his students, who displays high ethical standards, and professional competency.
